Using the upper bound formula for wiredrawing, described in Dr. B. Avitzur’s book Metal Forming: Processes and Analysis, a draw force program incorporating coulombic friction and workhardening by means of Ludwik’s Equation has been written. The method of measuring various parameters is described. Measurement of draw force is outlined and illustrated. An example of the program’s microcomputer application in the case of Inconel 600 wire is demonstrated.
