Ultraviolet light curable coating technology is now recognized as having distinct advantages over conventional coatings for the protection of optical fibers. This is on the thresh old of making a major impact on cabling of optical fibers. Features of (UV) curable materials are discussed along with innovative applications utilizing (UV) curable coatings for the manufacture of cable optical fibers.
