A quantitative study on the different lubrication modes for wiredrawing of 80Ni-20r wire,

$15.00

This paper addresses the lubrication modes that can exist during the slow speed wire drawing of 80% Ni – 20% Cr alloy. Since the lubrication mode affects the surface characteristics of the drawn wire, the surface was analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to independently predict the lubrication mode. Based on the calculated values of coefficients of friction and SEM pictures, a predominance of mixed mode of lubrication between thick film and boundary film conditions was observed.
