Description
This paper investigates the effects of initial strength and initial diameter of as-patented wire on the delamination properties of ultra high tensile (UHT) steel cords. Based on the experimental results, the phenomenological analyses have been conducted to predict the critical true strain and critical tensile strength at which delamination will break out. This paper proposes the optimum combination of initial diameter and initial strength, in order to obtain the UHT grade steel cord that is 0.2 mm in diameter, has tensile strength of 4500 MPa or more, and is free from delamination.
