Kinderhook Industries acquired Advanced Digital Cable, LLC (ADC), a Hayesville, North Carolina–based low-voltage wire and cable manufacturer, for an undisclosed amount. The deal strengthens Kinderhook’s position in specialty cable markets and supports ADC’s next phase of growth.
Kinderhook now counts ADC as its eighth wire and cable platform investment, reinforcing a focused strategy around high-value electrical and communications products. The private investment firm has a long record of partnering with middle‑market businesses to accelerate expansion and innovation.
ADC, founded in 1997 by Steve Payne, started as a coaxial cable producer during the surge in digital cable demand. Over nearly three decades, the company expanded into a broad portfolio of wire and cable products for multiple end markets.
Today ADC supplies critical sectors including renewable energy, data centers, manufacturing, power generation and commercial and residential construction. This diversified customer base gives Kinderhook a strong platform for further organic and acquisition‑driven growth.
Payne described the transaction as a key step in ensuring ADC’s legacy and future expansion. He emphasized that ADC needed new investment to scale and identified Kinderhook as the right long‑term partner.
Kinderhook recently completed the sale of SDI LaFarga COPPERWORKS to the Rhône Group, another global private equity firm. Following that exit, SDI LaFarga President and CEO Kurt Breischaft has taken over as CEO of ADC.
Breischaft, a former WAI President with experience at Belden, Superior Essex and Cerro Wire, brings deep industry expertise to the role. He plans to build on ADC’s 27‑year reputation while strengthening partnerships and investing in people, operations and new product innovation.
ADC currently operates three manufacturing facilities across North Carolina and Georgia. The original Hayesville plant has expanded six times and now offers more than 200,000 square feet of production space.
A second facility in Blairsville, Georgia, opened in 2011 and underwent a major expansion in 2018, bringing its footprint to more than 240,000 square feet. A third plant in Hiawassee, Georgia, opened in 2018 and expanded in 2019 to reach 60,000 square feet
