The fast growth of the Mig welding process and developments in solid welding wire for this process are discussed. Non-copper-coated welding wire produces no toxic copper fumes and does not flake to clog gun tips and liners. The seven carbon steel wire classifications for use in the Mig process are described. Variables for selection of the proper welding wire include technical service, chemistry, feedability, cast and helix, tensile strength, cleanliness, cost and packaging.
