Fisher to lead The Wire Association International in 2026

The Wire Association International has named David M. Fisher, president and CEO of James Monroe Wire and Cable Corp., as its 73rd president for 2026. A WAI member since 2008, Fisher brings 37 years of industry experience and leadership to the association’s global network.

Madison, Connecticut, USA – January 2, 2026 — The Wire Association International (WAI), Inc. has appointed David M. Fisher as its 73rd president for a one-year term that began on January 1, 2026. Fisher now leads the Board of Directors of the 96-year-old association headquartered in Madison, Connecticut, guiding WAI’s strategic initiatives for the global wire and cable manufacturing industry.

As president and CEO of James Monroe Wire and Cable Corporation (JMWC) in Lancaster, Massachusetts, Fisher brings more than 37 years of industry experience to his new role. Since joining JMWC full time in 1989 after graduating from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Fisher has worked across every area of the business—from plant operations and process engineering to sales, purchasing, and administration. He became president and CEO in 2005, continuing the legacy started by his father, Martin Fisher, who founded the company in 1977.

An active WAI member since 2008, Fisher joined the Board of Directors in 2018 and the Executive Committee in 2023. He co-chaired the 2025 Conference Programming Committee, served as Executive Committee liaison to the Oversight Committee, and previously chaired the Finance Committee. Fisher currently serves his third term on the New England Chapter Board of Directors, which he led as president in 2016. Over the years, he has consistently supported WAI events and chapter functions as a sponsor and leader.

Founded in 1930, the Wire Association International (WAI) is a not-for-profit organization with 1,600 individual members in 45 countries and Wire Journal International subscribers in 76 countries. WAI supports education and growth in the wire and cable industry through global conferences, training programs, and publications, including the Wire Journal International and the Wire Journal International Reference Guide. It also manages major trade events such as the Interwire Conference & Trade Exhibition and Wire Expo.
