Prysmian Expands Du Quoin, Illinois Plant to Boost Renewable Energy Cable Production
Du Quoin, Illinois – January 2026 — Prysmian Group has completed a $63.8 million expansion of its Du Quoin, Illinois manufacturing plant, marking a major investment in U.S. clean energy infrastructure. The company celebrated the milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local leaders, state officials, and company executives, coinciding with the plant’s 60th anniversary.
The expansion adds 100,000 square feet of new manufacturing space and creates 80 new jobs, strengthening Prysmian’s role as a key supplier of renewable energy and electric vehicle (EV) cables. The project enhances production capacity to meet growing demand while modernizing operations through an advanced Energy Management System.
A highlight of the project is a newly installed solar farm that generates nearly 50% of the plant’s total energy needs. This clean power system reduces the facility’s carbon footprint and supports Prysmian’s mission to deliver sustainable cable solutions essential to U.S. grid modernization and electrification goals.
Supported by the Reimagining Energy and Vehicles in Illinois (REV Illinois) initiative, the expansion has earned recognition from community and utility partners, including ComEd and Ameren Illinois. Leaders praised the project for advancing regional clean energy innovation and improving grid reliability.
Established in 1965, Prysmian’s Du Quoin facility manufactures high-performance cables for wind, solar, EV charging, and grid-hardening projects. With this expansion, Prysmian strengthens its commitment to American manufacturing, job creation, and the national clean energy transition.
