Interwire continues to showcase a dynamic mix of exhibitors who leverage the event to debut new products and connect with customers and prospects. The 2025 edition features a completely sold-out show floor, with 350 companies occupying 105,000 square feet in Hall A of the Congress Center.
On May 12, the day before the official start of Interwire, Fundamentals of Wire & Cable course drew nearly 200 participants for its day-long program. The Global Continuous Casting Forum also showed strong attendance. The WAI Annual Meeting and awards ceremony recognized outstanding achievements, and the week fostered valuable opportunities for learning, networking, and advancing the industry together.
WAI provides participants with practical tools to succeed in these focus areas. By tailoring the content to their key interests, WAI ensured that each attendee gained relevant, actionable insights—making Interwire both meaningful and valuable.
The 4th staging of WAI’s Global Continuous Casting Forum offered a wealth of information to attendees, showcasing copper and aluminum products, processing, as well as market dynamics. Co-located with Interwire, as in the three prior stagings (2019, 2011 and 2015), the program elements covered topics from shop floor concerns and safety, to cost-savings, combustion systems, and furnace design and efficiency.
Chris Tucker (Committee Chair) stated, “We had nearly 40 presentations as well as two panel discussions, and a plant tour. We covered topics that were of direct interest to continuous casting. Our speakers covered issues from sustainability and troubleshooting to furnace design and molten metal treatment/testing. There’s no other such event with a program equivalent to what we provided for continuous casting, and this is a vital, important field that deserves recognition.”
WAI President Eric Bieberich welcomed attendees and introduced Keynote Speaker Andrea Pirondini, CEO Prysmian North America, to the standing-room-only audience at the official opening of Interwire. Winner of the 2025 WAI Champion Award, Pirondini presented an overview of transformative changes shaping the industry such as the continuing demand for more power and connectivity.
On Wednesday, Keynote Speaker Chris Tuff, spoke passionately in his presentation, “Creating a Culture of Connection.” He also appeared later at the WAI Theater in another WAI first: a “Fireside Chat,” during which he spoke further on personnel matters with WAI Second President Rebecca Cranford, Southwire.
The executive level perspective continued with the talk by Willem Sundblad, CEO, Oden Technology. The WAI board member and frequent industry speaker focused on the far-reaching potential of digital technology that is not a future-generation aspiration but an increasing reality that is here and growing.
