55-Nitinol — unique wire alloy with a memory

$15.00

The physical and mechanical properties and the engineering potential of the equiatomic titanium nickel (Ti Ni) intermetallic compound 55-Nitinol are presented. The unique property of this alloy is its memory; after being permanently formed into a particular configuration, then stretched out, the wire returns to the configuration when heated by passing of a current. Alloying, wire fabrication, and applications are described.
