Described are different types of cabling machines used in the electrical cable industry for assembling power, control and communications cables. The different design principles will be described and their uses enumerated. Steel cables, which are mostly used for hauling or lifting, are not covered in detail. Cablers and stranders are classified into rigid or planetary groups for purposes of identification.
