Description
According to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 the following products:
1) sodium tetraborate (borax)
2) boric acid
are classified as toxic for reproduction and unborn children (R60-61 – May impair fertility. May cause harm to the unborn child).
Titanium dioxide, on the other hand, is currently being assessed by the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) for suspected possible carcinogenic effects on humans. These compounds are commonly used in the production of preparation salts and powdered lubricants for wire drawing.
TECNOVO is always attentive to safety issues and it is now some time since it started a research programme to study alternative formulas free (zero content) from substances that are dangerous or potentially dangerous to persons and the environment.
The purpose of this research is also to create compounds with performances in terms of wire drawing speed and die wear equal to or better than those normally found on the market.
To achieve these aims, work has been performed on both the chemical formulas and in the case of sodium based lubricants, on the physical properties, in order to eliminate the problem of dust when handling lubricants and when it is applied to wires.
