A new NiZn/ZnCo-coated steel wire for tire cord applications

$15.00

A new electrodeposited dual layer coating for bonding steel tire cords to rubber compounds has been developed. It consists of a base layer of 1.5 um Zn-1%Co and a top layer of 0.5 um Ni-20%Zn which are deposited on 1.4 mm wires and then drawn to the final diameter of 0.25 mm. The filaments are corded and the tire cord thus obtained has corrosion and rubber adhesion properties superior to the conventional brass-coated cords.
