A review of a 15 chapter portion of the Soviet textbook ‘Theory of Wire Drawing by I.L. Perlin and M.Z. Ermanok’ (Metallurgia, 1971) is presented. The portion of text under review in this article concerns methods for designing the basic wiredrawing process, particularly in the case of shapes.
