The possible effects of core wire temper on arcing characteristics of the electrode and weld quality were studied. Four different tempers of three different electrode materials (nickel, Monel, Inconel) were used to weld joints. It was determined that core temper had no effect on the mechanical properties of the electric arc welds or on the arcing characteristics of the electrode.
