A theory of compact round concentric lay stranded conductors is described. The theory is proposed to mathematically resolve design of the conductors and to set up a method for design of the manufacturing processing. Basic stranding parameters, average lay factor, and stranding geometry of uncompacted stranded conductors are discussed. Compact stranded conductors and their design are analyzed in detail.
