This paper discusses the merits of ultrasonic technology when applied for on-line measurement of concentricity and wall thickness of cable primaries. Specifically, recent advances are discussed that make ultrasonic technology easier to use, more accurate, and more robust. A comparison of ultrasonic technology to other conventional methods is also provided.
