Description
This paper discusses experiments with patenting in a fluidized bed and with a gas cooler, as alternative heat treatment methods to the use of a lead bath. The experiments were done both in the laboratory with a wire sample length adapted to tensile testing and in a continuous heat treatment line where wire coils could be produced. In the most successful test with gas cooling in a continuous patenting line, the authors achieved mechanical properties and microstructure almost identical to lead-patented wire.
