Application of a new indicator for strength characteristics of steel ropes

$15.00

In this paper a simple and universal indicator is proposed for the estimation of rope construction quality. It is based on ratios of wire tensile strength to the number of twists and bends. Based on calculated values of new indicators Wrope and Wstrand, it has been proven that in ropes with the same diameter but different constructions, higher indicator values point to higher values of strength parameters such as the rope’s effective rupture force and nominal rupture force.
