This paper will explore the use and success of a number of technologies in the wire industry affecting machinery used to provide wire products to customers. A planned maintenance approach to these machines is becoming part of production planning, a concept driven by tight scheduling programs such as ‘Just in Time’ production requirements and registration programs such as ISO and QS 9000.
