Nokia Cable Machinery under a concept termed ‘Unitmaker’ has combined telephone wire insulation and subunit stranding processes into an integrated production systems of means of automated reel handling. The method termed ‘flexible tandemization’ uses most of the advantages of tandemizatin (e.g. shorter production lead time) but eliminates most of the disadvantages (e.g. vulnerability to disturbance). The continuous process is discussed.
