Automation in the wire mill for the production of ferrous wire

$15.00

Automation of the wire mill is presented through several examples of wire mill and equipment supplier collaborations. Specific equipment discussed includes I.O. coils, payoffs (continuous high carbon and low carbon rod), automatic drawing coilers, automatic coil takeups, and spools and spoolers. Galvanizing speeds were increased through automation from 100 to 300 m/min; spooling was made possible onto a range of spools from a galvanizing line; and coils and spools were formed without an operator. Each process was performed continuously at constant speed.
