This paper presents an overview of the options available for rebuilding and hard surfacing wiredrawing blocks. It includes all forms of hard surfacing processes available, including flame hardening, metallizing, plasma spray, HVOF, submerged arc and the new restore-and-grind process. Consideration is given to the surface quality of the wire. Also offered are ideas and procedures to prevent or improve common problems with the wiredrawing process.
