Several questions regarding the use of electric furnaces for bright annealing of wire are considered. The bell type furnace, tube furnace, and continuous tube furnace are described and illustrated. Application of these furnaces to copper, low carbon steel, high carbon steel, monel metal, brasses, and bronzes are discussed; the metallurgical results obtained are outlined. Floor space requirements and operating costs are also considered.
