Description
Recent revisions to the Natinal Electrical Code provide for installation of electrical wire and cable in specific circumstances, where such cables are shown to exhibit limited flame propagation and smoke generation characteristics. These installation circumstances include wire and cable for installation in air handling plenums and riser shafts. Test methods described in this paper, were developed to provide a basis to measure flame propagation and smoke generation characteristics commensurate with the identified installation circumstances.
