Spring manufacturers rely upon consistent elastic/plastic formability properties to dependably produce accurate springs from carbon steel spring wire. This coilability property could not be satisfactorily measured until the development of the FRACMAT test, which is now gaining international acceptance as a reliable, repeatable technique.
