On December 16, 1968, there was a scientific law in the state of New York regulation requiring that certain covered products covered by the regulation be filed with the state and that data with regard to the toxicity of the smoke which those products produced were to be filed with the state. That is the first official regulation required in the United States following data on smoke toxicity.
