Combined analytical-experimental technique to calculate the compressive modulus of a steel wire

$15.00

A method based on the linear elastic bending theory in conjunction with the principle of hormogenizing a heterogeneous media is utilized to determine the effective compressive modulus of a wire. The mechanical property of the cord under compression does not have the same value as the one in tension. A complete detail of the laboratory technique employed is described. Effects of testing parameters such as lay length / helix angle, spiral wrap, and geometric dimensions are also reported.
