Three microcomputer programs, NEWCON, MAKCON, and QCCON, are evaluated based on internal use at Raychem Corporation, for guidance in the selection and matching of individual strand diameters in strand conductor production. Compound under the strands (C.U.S.), a serious defect due to pressure extrusion is bettered monitored with this program written in BASIC. Creation of the mathematical model, along with sample inputs, outputs and quality control system is described.
