Description
In order to minimize the wire break frequency at Cable Tech, an electrical wire and cable manufacturer based in Stouffville, Ontario, Canada, numerous process improvement projects have been launched since 1988. Through continuous process improvement at all stages including continuous copper casting, rod breakdown and multiwire drawing, Cable Tech has managed to decrease wire break frequency by 50 percent at multiwire machines over four years. This paper presents the major quality improvement steps that Cable Tech has taken to achieve these results.
