Description
This paper examines the influence of the manufacturing process on filament strength (FS). Steel rod composition affects FS by ferrite solid solution strengthening, cementite carbide strengthening, and austenite grain refinement. Intermediate patenting affects FS by full or partial decarburization. Dry drawn diameter deviations affect FS through final patenting DV (Diameter times Velocity) variations. Final austenization wire temperature relates FS to grain size, pearlite colony size, and degree of carbide dissolution
