Control of the surface quality during hot rolling on a high-speed rod mill

$15.00

A non-destructive type of inspection for the surface finish of wire rod after hot rolling, based on eddy current, is introduced. The C.G.R. (Compagnie Generale de Radologie) equipment allows for full testing of the rod, by use of eddy current disturbance measurement. Installation at the Usinor Longwy rod mill, along with the trials and results which have led to the overall design of the equipment, will be described.
