Control of wet drawing lubricant in the manufacture of steel tire cord

$15.00

This paper will concentrate on the most common category of wet lubricant for the processing of steel tire cord—synthetic emulsions. Chemistry, raw materials, and some techniques used to manufacture raw emulsions for steel tire cord will be reviewed. Factors that affect wet drawing performance will be assessed. As most advanced steel tire cord manufacturing plants use continuous lubricant additions as the method of wet lubricant replenishment, this paper will focus heavily on continuous addition systems.
