This paper discusses the conversion of the batch furnace for wire batch annealing from DX gas to a nitrogen base atmosphere. A critical review of the annealing process, and the list of improvements that would be necessary to relieve the strain anticipated for increased productivity and lower costs in the production of baly wire are presented.
