This paper presents the latest technology in making oxygen-free copper rod – the high-speed “up-cast” 8 mm process describing its manufacture and metallurgical properties. It focuses on the quality of the Sherburne’s 8 mm oxygen-free copper rod and its wide application in wiredrawing, with results for users down to a 44 gauge size and for companies using it for multi-wire machines for gauges of 30 or higher, comparing its application to ETP rod.
