A study is presented in which the tension and horsepower associated with drawing and spooling copper wire are examined. The drawing-spooling system is described; the properties of copper wire, spooling tensions, and spooling horsepower are discussed and mathematical methods of determining spooling motor horsepower and drawing horsepower are presented.
