A research program set up to examine the impact of raw material, manufacturing process, and loading condition on the fatigue behavior of spring wires is described. The correlation between fatigue tests on wire and dynamic spring properties is discussed; no correlation was found. However, a correlation was detected between wire torsion tests and fatigue tests on springs.
