Description
Different criteria of central bursting during steel wiredrawing were verified using equations from the nomograms of Avitzur, Wright, and Yoshida. These criteria were calculated and verified by microscopical observation. Steel grade wire rods for steel cord with a 5.5-mm diameter were patented in lead and drawn with a reduction of about 10% for a 5.0-mm diameter. It has been found that in some cases these authors’ criteria give the same conditions for development of central bursting, but in some they are different.
