Description

This paper will examine the trends in gauging for all application segments of wire and cable processing. The paper will start with new solutions and trends for hot steel and metal mills to measure their products in-line for conventional rolling mill applications and also the challenging (to measure) “3-lobe” application. Then, the paper will shift to discuss the latest trends to measure drawn wire products in-line for local and networking applications. Finally, the paper will discuss the cutting edge trends to pursue more data (via camera technology and higher scan rates), new technology to remove the “contact” from some conventional gauges, and some very new and interesting twists to very well accepted laser gauges (new laser gauging technology.)
