Design of a drawing process of ASTM A 407 wire without intermediate patenting

$15.00

This work presents the efforts which were carried out to design the cold drawing of ASTM A 407 wire from a 5.5-mm diameter, made by hot rolling with Stelmor cooling, to a 1.37-mm diameter without intermediate patenting. Five experiments were carried out, modifying one process condition on each of them, and keeping the rest constant. It was found that patenting is unnecessary when the process conditions are about 20 percent reduction of area per pass for first and second stages.
