Design of convex, concave, and sigmoidal dies

$15.00

This paper presents the method for design of convex, concave, and sigmoidal dies. The shapes of those dies were established on the basis of the geometrical parameters of the conical die. It was found that too high a temperature during drawing has an adverse effect on a wire quality, decreasing the mechanical properties due to strain aging and causing a formation of thermal stresses and an oxidation or combustion of the lubricant. As a result an increase of the friction factor in the drawing process and the decrease of the die’s life were observed.
