Optimum drawing die shapes with optimum contact ratio 1/do were studied by FEM simulation and experiment. Drawing stress and residual stress of the A-die (conical die) and R-die (circle die) were calculated by REM simulation and compared. A-R die combining the length of A-type die and R-type die were designed and the optimum die shapes of A-R die were investigated by comparing the drawing stress and residual stress. As a result, the length ratio of A-die part versus R-die in A-R die approach was found to be 8 to 1 in the length ratio on optimum die shape. Simultaneously, the results of the drawing stress and residual stress of FEM simulation were compared.
