Higher performance for the next LAN cable categories is required to provide the capability to transmit voice, data and video signal at faster speeds. One evidence of that is the increase in the amount of information capable of transmitting in LAN from Mbits/sec to Gbits/sec and the rising tendency of customer demand for UTP Cat 5 or higher in the last years.
