It is shown that methods adopted in the past to produce wire more rapidly, were wasteful in terms of capital and resources. Experiences using direct water cooling and Vee traction are described together with improvements that can result with this method. Suggestions are given for further developments. This work is demonstrated with high-carbon steel wire.
