Development of a test to evaluate the formability of CHQ wire

$15.00

A modified compression test which simulates severe cold heading applications was developed and applied to highly formable wire rod material such as low carbon aluminum killed steel. The effects of steel chemistry and surface defects are discussed. The premature failure due to surface defects (machined notch) is analyzed.
