Development of a virtual wiredrawing tool for process analysis and optimization

$15.00

This paper describes a comprehensive simulation tool for multi-pass wiredrawing operation, taking into account the deformation and thermal effects in wire and dies, cooling in between the dies and finally linking the mechanical properties of the final wire to the deformation. A finite element (FE) based model is developed for analyzing the deformations and temperatures in wiredrawing operation. In order to obtain the parameters needed for the simulation tool, a series of plant trials were conducted.
