This paper discusses research that allows development of aluminum alloys for the production of rod and wires dedicated to modern overhead cables. The first group of wires is used for the construction of the high-temperature overhead cables, which allows increased current carrying capacity. The second group of wires is used for the construction of overhead cables that allows the reduction of power line current losses.
