Developments in casting technology improve copper rod quality

$15.00

Supplying wiredrawers with rod which would leave no room for material-related breaks is the ultimate goal of all quality-conscious copper rod producers. Recent improvements in continuous casting technology now enable the producer to take a few steps toward reaching this ambitious target. This paper describes how the UPCAST® casting machine was redesigned and includes a case study showing how these design modifications increased the rod quality in a way which helped a cable producer to achieve a “zero wire breaks” performance at its wiredrawing operation
