Developments in coatings and lubricants for wiredrawing operations and considerations of environmental and safety issues

$15.00

This paper will examine the optimization of product performance, which includes considerations of environmental and safety issues. Production of wire requires the application of a broad palate of process chemicals, which are involved in several stages of the manufacturing route. A number of examples taken from the areas of coating and lubrication are examined, which illustrate the types of improvement that have been achieved. The examples discussed include reactive and non-reactive coatings, dry lubricants, both sodium and calcium based, wet lubricants and additives.
