Direct cooling of wire

$15.00

A technique for the direct quench cooling of high carbon wire to 160~C developed by GKN Somerset is presented. Speed increases of up to 100% have been obtained without any decrease in mechanical properties. Improvements in ductility occur where speed increases are only marginal due to lack of power.
